About Us

Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church longs to see unbelieving people become faithful followers of the Lord Jesus Christ.  We have been meeting as a church since 1897 and from small beginnings have become one of the larger congregations in the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.

Hamilton Road is part of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. You may visit the PCI website for further, more detailed information about our denomination and its mission.

The Presbyterian Church believes that “the Word of God as set forth in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments is the only infallible rule of faith and practice, and the supreme standard of the Church.” That may seem a bit of a mouthful but in practice it means that our authority as a church resides in the Bible in which God has spoken and through which he still speaks. It is this conviction which shapes our life together at Hamilton Road.

This means  we are committed to teaching the Bible systematically and consecutively week by week. This is reflected in the preaching at the Sunday services and in our fellowship groups which meet during the week. You can look at the current sermon series on the website and also find out about our Fellowship Groups. The best way to get a feel for what we do is to join us at one of the Sunday services, either morning or evening at 11am and 6.30pm.

Leadership

As a Presbyterian congregation, HRPC is governed by a group of elders appointed from within the Church Family to take responsibility for the spiritual oversight of the congregation.  Collectively the elders are known as the Kirk Session.  A Congregational Committee manage the temporal affairs of the congregation, and are accountable to Kirk Session.

The Kirk Session is arranged into a number of sub–committees, which have responsibility for various ministries in our church family. The sub committees and their remits are:

Children’s
Provides oversight and direction to our children’s ministry.
Youth
Provides oversight and direction to our youth ministry.
Mission
Seeks to encourage the congregation in global mission, providing support to those who wish to explore serving God overseas, as well as our missions family. Provide opportunities for short term service through missions teams.
Evangelism
Seeks to encourage the congregation in local outreach by providing training and through organising outreach courses, initiatives and events.
Pastoral and Caring
Provides training and support for members of the congregation to care for one another. Seeks to support more vulnerable members of the congregation and ensure that our services are accessible to all.
Fellowship
Provides opportunities for the church family to get together.
